Overheard on the metro. Going from Dejvicka, the jumping on point for tourists fresh from the airport, I hear the following exchange among a group of Brits:

[Train stops at first station]

Man: What's that noise? [Refers loudly to the omnipresent background hum of the electric motors during station stops]
2nd man: That is static electricity - it accumulates you see as the train travels along. There is so much you can hear it.
Woman: [Glumly] Probably give us all leukemia.
2nd Woman: Quite so. I shouldn't be surprised at all.
