There's an alternative keyboard layout developed decades ago by a guy named "Dvorak" who was related to Antonin in some way. He fought and lost against the QWERTY orthodoxy. That's all according to the helpful comic linked to above.

Apparently it's supposed to come as an option with Windows and MAC OS, but it's not on my machine.

One of the lovely benefits of the layout is that all the vowels and most common consonants are placed on the home row where you rest your fingers. You do most of your typing that way on one row. This is because "every word has at least one vowel in it". Hm. Safe to say that Mr. Dvorak wasn't thinking of Czech. Strc prst zkrz krk.
